The subjects in Browne’s work are often dressed in ornate or beautiful clothing, highlighting their outer presentation or appearance and by using the tropes of fashion, models, and dolls she investigates female representations: the public face that women project and the performance that is reflected in the staged or posed aspect of the work. Browne paints from screenshots, fashion magazines and old books, exploring themes of aging and beauty while also representing the generic timeless young female adult.
